YOUR FIRST VISIT
We want your first visit to Wagner Kapoor Institute to be a smooth and pleasant experience. We are dedicated to providing you with the excellent, personalized care you deserve. When your appointment is completed, we want you to have all the information you need to fully understand your medical condition and its treatment options. Please let us know how we can improve your visit with us.
Plan to arrive 15 minutes early for a first appointment to allow us to create your medical record. Please remember to bring:
- Any pertinent medical records from your referring provider
- Your glasses and sunglasses to wear following dilation
- A list of all your medications and their dosages
- Your identification and insurance cards
- A referral from your primary care physician, should your insurance require it
When you arrive, you will be greeted by our Patient Care Coordinator who will accept your patient forms or ask you to complete them in our office. If you would like to download and fill out your New Patient Packet form in advance, you may do so using the link provided. If you bring these forms with you, you will not need to arrive early for your appointment.
We welcome your spouse, family members, or a friend to join you during the examination. Your medical evaluation will begin with a technician who will review your medical and ocular history. Your eyes will then be dilated for possible scans and/or pictures. Please expect light sensitivity due to the dilation. After your pupils are dilated, one of our providers will meet with you to examine your eyes, employing state-of-the-art technology. Depending on your medical condition, other special tests may be performed.
After completing the exam, one of our providers will discuss your findings and recommend treatment. While some treatments can be performed during this initial visit, other procedures may need to be scheduled for a later date. If a surgical procedure is necessary, our staff will explain every detail to you and make all necessary arrangements for your surgery. Our providers are on staff at nearly all area hospitals, making it more likely that you can schedule your surgery at a convenient location covered by your insurance.
We are happy to schedule your surgery at the location most convenient to you and your family.
